About Norridge
Norridge is located 15 miles northwest of the Loop and has a population of 14,500 residents. The history of Norridge dates back to 1830’s when it was referred to as a “Goat Village” because of a woman that raised goats in the eastern side of town. Another nickname during that time was the “Swamp” because of muddy conditions and unpaved streets.
In 1954 Norridge was close to getting annexed by Chicago when a local improvement association moved in to incorporate it as a village. Just like its neighbor Harwood Heights, Norridge has large Polish and Italian communities. Both towns are aligned in efforts to combat street crime and its students share Ridgewood High School.
